ENGWE Review 2026: Are These E-Bikes Worth Buying?

Short verdict: ENGWE sells folding, city and fat-tire e-bikes plus a few e-scooters direct to riders across the EU, with free delivery on the bikes and a 12-month warranty on the main parts. Prices are mid to high for the category, and a return costs you €200 per bike unless something is actually wrong with it. We rate it 4.1 out of 5.

How we wrote this review: we read ENGWE's own product pages, shipping policy, return and refund policy, warranty page and about-us page on engwe.com, and we checked prices live in the shop's product data on 29 September 2026. We have not ordered from ENGWE ourselves, so anything about how a bike rides or how a specific warranty claim was handled comes from the store's own pages or from customer reviews, not from our own use.

What is ENGWE?

ENGWE is an e-bike brand made by Shenzhen Engwe Intelligent Technology, a Chinese company that says it was founded in 2014. The engwe.com store ships to riders in France, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Austria, Ireland, Portugal and a number of other EU countries, from warehouses in France and Poland. The United Kingdom and the United States have their own separate ENGWE stores, so this review is about the EU store only.

The range covers folding fat-tire bikes such as the EP-2 and Engine Pro, city and commuter bikes such as the O20 Boost and E26 3.0 Pro, a moped-styled line, and a small line of Y-series electric scooters. ENGWE says all the e-bikes sold on the EU store are built to the EN15194 standard and carry TÜV certification, with a 250 W motor and pedal assist that cuts out at 25 km/h. That is the standard EU e-bike limit, so these models count as ordinary bicycles under EU law: no licence, insurance or registration needed. ENGWE also warns on its own site about unauthorised sellers, so it is worth buying from engwe.com itself rather than from a marketplace listing you are not sure about.

Spare batteries are also sold on their own, from around €259 for a P275 SE battery up to €399 for the higher-capacity packs used on the E26 3.0 Pro, L20 and Engine Pro. A handful of accessories, such as the Pannier Bag and Gym Bag at €149 or the Bike Tracker at €19, were listed as unavailable at the time we checked.

How the e-bikes are built and what the warranty covers

ENGWE's warranty page splits cover by part: 12 months on the frame, fork, motor, battery, controller, display and wiring; 6 months on lights, racks, pedals, gears and hubs; 3 months on brake pads, rotors and plastics; and 1 month on tyres. Cover is for manufacturing faults, not for crash damage, self-modification or wear from things like riding over kerbs or with low tyre pressure. ENGWE also sells an extended warranty add-on for some models, but this has to be bought together with the bike; it cannot be added after the order is placed. Payment at checkout includes cards, PayPal, and instalment options through Klarna and PayPal's Pay in 3 or Pay in 4 in the countries where those are offered. Because everything is billed in euros, a card in a different currency may pick up a conversion fee from your bank.

Shipping

ENGWE ships e-bikes and scooters free by DPD from its warehouses in France and Poland. Orders to France and Poland typically take 2 to 5 business days; the rest of the EU countries it serves take 7 to 10 business days. If you want a faster delivery, FedEx express is offered for an extra €50. Smaller accessories ship free by DPD or DHL, either from the EU (7 to 10 days) or, for some items, from China (7 to 15 days). ENGWE says orders are processed within 2 business days of the order confirmation email and dispatched on the third business day, with tracking sent by email once the parcel is on its way. Once a parcel has shipped, ENGWE says it cannot change the address or intercept it for free, so it is worth double-checking your delivery address before you pay.

Returns and refunds

ENGWE gives 30 days from delivery to ask for a return. You have to email service@engwe.com first to get a return label; sending a bike back without asking first is not accepted. The bike needs to be unused, with fewer than 10 km on the display, complete with everything from the box, and in its original packaging. If the bike is faulty, damaged in transit, or the wrong item, ENGWE says it will replace it or refund it in full. If there is nothing wrong with the bike and you simply changed your mind, ENGWE deducts a €200 return fee per e-bike or €100 per battery from your refund. Cancelling an order before it ships costs a smaller processing fee. Accessories bought as part of an online sale are not returnable at all, so read the product page carefully before adding one to an order.

What customers say

Trustpilot did not load for us on the day we checked, so we cannot give you today's score. In our database, taken from a check on 12 September 2026, engwe.com scored 4.8 out of 5 from 207 Trustpilot reviews, which is a strong result for the category. The main complaint that shows up in that same research is slow handling of warranty claims, so it is worth keeping your order number and photos of any fault handy if you ever need to contact support.

Who should buy ENGWE?

ENGWE is a reasonable choice for EU shoppers who want a folding or city e-bike from a direct-to-consumer brand, who are comfortable buying online without a test ride first, and who want free delivery included in the price. It is a less good choice if you might want to change your mind after delivery, since a no-fault return costs €200 on a bike, or if you need the bike quickly, since standard delivery outside France and Poland can take up to 10 business days.

Tips before you order

• Check which country you are shipping to, since ENGWE says prices and delivery times can differ by country.
• Decide on the exact model and colour before you order; changing the model after dispatch can add costs and delay.
• Email service@engwe.com before sending anything back, and keep the box and all accessories in case you need to return the bike.
• Photograph the bike and its display reading as soon as it arrives, in case you ever need to make a warranty claim.
• If you want an extended warranty, add it at the same time as the bike; it cannot be bought separately afterwards.

ENGWE covers a lot of ground for EU e-bike shoppers, from budget scooters to mid-drive city bikes, but the €200 no-fault return fee and the longer delivery windows outside France and Poland are worth weighing against the free shipping and warranty cover.
