ENGWE HU Review 2026: Is Hungary's ENGWE Store Safe to Order From?

Short verdict: ENGWE HU (hu.engwe.com) is the Hungarian storefront for ENGWE's fat-tire folding e-bikes and scooters, with free delivery to Hungary and a Hungarian-language site. The store is usable, but on the day we checked it showed every price in Philippine pesos instead of forints, which is a real problem for anyone trying to pay with confidence. We rate it 3.4 out of 5.

How we wrote this review: we used the ENGWE HU store database, the live hu.engwe.com product catalogue and policy pages checked on 29 September 2026, and an earlier store brief dated 14 September 2026 for details that had not changed. We have not ordered from ENGWE HU ourselves, so anything about the unboxing or the ride is based on what the store and customer reviews say, not on our own experience.

What is ENGWE HU?

ENGWE HU is the Hungarian version of ENGWE's international e-bike and e-scooter shop. It sells the same fat-tire folding bikes as ENGWE's other stores, including the moped-styled M20, the folding Engine Pro 2.0 and EP-2 Boost, the carbon N1 Air and N1 Pro, the P275 commuter line and the Y-series scooters. The site is in Hungarian, orders ship from ENGWE's EU warehouses in France and Poland, and support runs through service.hu@engwe.com, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Payment options at checkout include card, PayPal, Klarna, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Products and prices

On 29 September 2026, hu.engwe.com displayed every price in Philippine pesos (₱), not Hungarian forints. This looks like a currency setting error rather than a real price rise: the store's own shipping and returns pages still quote costs in forints, such as a 20,620 Ft FedEx surcharge and an 81,040 Ft return fee, so the numbers on product pages were almost certainly meant to be forints. A card charged in pesos at the listed figures would pay roughly six times more than the forint amount the store seems to intend. Check the currency shown next to the total before you pay anything.

These are one-time purchase prices from the live product list on 29 September 2026, shown here exactly as the store displays them, in pesos. About half of the 50 products listed, including the M1, P275 Pro, Y10 and L20, were marked unavailable on that date. The store carries the 2024 model line-up; newer 3.0 series bikes are not listed here.

Quality and specs

ENGWE describes its bikes as fat-tire, folding designs built for city and light off-road use, with 250W motors that meet EU limits, torque sensors on several models, and claimed ranges up to around 140km depending on the model. These are the brand's own figures from its product pages, not numbers we have measured. Battery and charger parts are sold separately for most models, which is useful if a battery wears out but adds to the total cost of ownership.

Shipping

E-bikes and scooters ship free by DPD from ENGWE's EU warehouses in France and Poland, arriving in Hungary in 7 to 10 business days. FedEx express delivery is available for 20,620 Ft. Accessories ship free by DPD or DHL from the EU in 7 to 10 business days, or by CNE from China in 7 to 15 days. Processing starts within 2 business days of the order confirmation email, and the parcel is dispatched on the third business day, with tracking sent by email once it ships. A dispatched parcel cannot be redirected free of charge, and a parcel left uncollected at a pick-up point for 10 days is returned to ENGWE, so plan to be available to receive it.

Returns and refunds

ENGWE HU gives 30 days from delivery to request a return, but you must email service.hu@engwe.com first; a return sent back without approval is refused. A bike must be unused, showing under 10km on its display, clean, and complete in its original box. Change-of-mind returns are not free: ENGWE deducts a restocking and shipping fee of 81,040 Ft per bike, cancelling before dispatch costs 5% of the order, and cancelling after dispatch costs the full 81,040 Ft. Faulty products are replaced or refunded within 30 days at no cost beyond a 40,520 Ft shipping charge that the policy keeps; faults reported after 30 days are handled as warranty claims instead. Returned bikes go to ENGWE's warehouse in Wrocław, Poland, and once inspected, refunds are processed within 3 business days and typically arrive within 3 to 10 business days after that.

ENGWE's warranty, as described when we checked on 14 September 2026, covers the frame, fork, motor, battery, controller, display and wiring for 12 months; lights, kickstand, fenders, pedals, chain, derailleur and hubs for 6 months; the saddle, plastic parts, brake rotors, pads and cables for 3 months; and tires for 1 month. Crash damage and modifications are excluded, and a claim starts with a photo or video sent to service.hu@engwe.com.

What customers say

hu.engwe.com does not have its own Trustpilot profile. ENGWE's EU store scored 4.5 out of 5 from 632 reviews when we checked on 14 September 2026. Common praise in those reviews is for the ride feel and looks of the bikes, while common complaints mention rims damaged in transit and slow repair turnaround. Since the Hungarian store uses the same EU warehouses and support system as the wider ENGWE operation, buyers in Hungary can reasonably expect similar service, though there is no Hungary-specific score to confirm this.

Who should buy ENGWE HU?

ENGWE HU is a reasonable choice for a Hungarian shopper who wants a fat-tire folding e-bike or scooter, is comfortable ordering online from a warehouse in France or Poland, and is willing to double-check the checkout currency before paying. It is not a good choice for someone who wants a firm, fixed price in forints right now without any extra verification, or for someone who might want to change their mind after the bike ships, given the size of the restocking fee.

Tips before you order

• Confirm the currency shown at checkout reads forints or euros before entering payment details; if it still shows pesos, contact service.hu@engwe.com to confirm the real amount first.
• Compare the listed price against the shipping and return fees quoted in forints on the policy pages to sanity-check what you would actually pay.
• Measure your storage space and check the bike's folded dimensions, since these are folding bikes meant to be stored indoors between rides.
• Keep the original box and packaging until you are sure you want to keep the bike, since a change-of-mind return needs the original box and an unused, under-10km bike.
• Email service.hu@engwe.com before sending anything back; an unapproved return will be refused.
